Wine cork tile is 100% PCR floor tile made from reclaimed or donated recycled wine corks. It is used for interior flooring, paneling, or furniture.
RESOURCES
Collected corks are ground up and compression molded into blocks with granulated cork and a food-grade polyurethane binder. There is no water used in manufacturing, and air pollutants are ventilated according to Clean Air Act standards.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Yemm & Hart purchases PCR cord wine stoppers from individuals and organizations. Products are shipped on a recycled or reclaimed wood skid with cardboard and shrink wrap. Any waste or excess cork is for sale to the public in bulk.
HUMAN HEALTH
7% of the product is food-grade polyurethane binder, which, according to the MSDS, emits no VOCs during production or use. It is safe and non-toxic in use, unless it is burned.
SOCIAL EQUITY
The company plants thousands of trees in its local community as outreach and is also a member of the Missouri Stream Team. Impure cork from the collection is donated to local teachers as a craft supply to use for students’ creative projects.
