Hard plywood made of a fast-growing eucalyptus hybrid tree species. Interior includes flooring, wall paneling, ceiling, furniture, cabinetry, and table tops.
RESOURCES
The wood comes from non- GMO, fast-growing plantation trees, which can be harvested within 14-16 years of planting from Brazil. Plywood is available in FSC-certified panel constructions upon request.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
The manufacturer’s goal is to decrease its carbon footprint in the transportation from the manufacturer to the consumer. Logs are imported, then sliced and spliced in the U.S. Much of the manufacturer’s waste is sold or shipped to other companies for pulp and paper production.
HUMAN HEALTH
All panels are free of formaldehyde and instead feature soy-based PureBond technology. Columbia uses 100% solids UV-cured coating of modified acrylic finish that does not emit any VOCs.
SOCIAL EQUITY
Columbia Forest Products employs local members of the community who are engaged in many sustainable and social programs, including Habitat for Humanity. Employee-owned HQ in North Carolina, USA.
