RESOURCES
Due to its current legal status, hemp has to be grown outside of the United States in countries such as China, Romania, and Canada. Hemp Traders have visited and reviewed the farms and factories they use to ensure appropriate environmental conduct. Hemp is a fast-growing crop and can produce more fiber yield per acre than other sources using the same amount of land (250% more than cotton and 600% moret han flax). The organic Hemp Traders use are grown from non-genetically modified plants without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Hemp Traders uses ocean freight to reduce the environmental impacts of their shipping. Ocean freight is the most economical and environmentally friendly method of shipping, using less energy per pound per mile than air, truck, and even train freight. By producing textiles made of recycled PET (plastics), Hemp Traders is reducing air, water, and ground pollution, keeping the bottles and other plastics from occupying landfill space. This method of fabric production also takes 30%.

HUMAN HEALTH
Hemp traders only use the most environmentally friendly dying and finishing processes. The impact that dyeing textiles has on the environment and the people involved can be devastating. Many developing countries have no regulations regarding the methods of dyeing, the types of dyes used, and the disposal of waste. Hemp traders ensure no synthetic or harmful chemicals are included in their dyeing methods.

SOCIAL EQUITY
Hemp Traders ensures that employees at their overseas and Los Angeles factories receive fair treatment. Wages are negotiated on a free and fair basis and ensure a decent standard of living. Employees work 40-60 hours a week and are allowed regular breaks and lunchtimes, as well as adequate and safe living and working conditions.
