
Shriva Rug is made by Bengali craftswomen in India of hand-woven jute. The rug is inspired by the Shrivatsa, an ancient Hindu symbol for unity represented by an endless knot. For indoor use in dry areas not exposed to humidity changes.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
The actual jute fiber is considered an ecofriendly material that is 100% biodegradable and recyclable. However, most of Merida’s Jute Rugs have a noskid latex backing with a layer of cushioning and insulation that would need to be serparated for recylcing.

Merida partners with people in India that are certified by GoodWeave, whose mission is to elimate child labor in the carpet industry. The company employs nearly 4,000 women.
