The Lighthouse Project is an ongoing ode to reusing and emotional attachment to garments through memories and experiences lived. A garment in particular is in permanent transformation with new embroideries that celebrate every visit to every lighthouse. The generations that have grown with fast fashion all around have lost that vision of long term value over clothing. It is time for a change of mentality and recover the awareness and care for what we already have.

A front view of Viveka in first term slightly turned to the right looking at the horizon, sat in a relaxed position with arms and legs comfortably bent. She is sat over a big log that stands in a surface of remains of beach like stones, sticks and seaweed and wearing her designs: a sailor inspired tunic made out of certified organic cotton in black with white collar and checked bell bottom pants made of dead stock fabric in burgundy, black, blue and yellow. She also wears a black beret, retro inspired make up and has a shaggy haircut in her copper tones hair. The background consists on a clear blue sky and just behind her to the right there’s some vegetation in light green and earth tones, to the left stands the only lighthouse in Brooklyn in the area of Seagate nearby Coney Island that consists on a white tubular structure with black accents on the lantern area.

Viveka is pictured whole body on the right of the image standing over a boardwalk, she is backwards with one leg and the arms risen in a ritualistic manner. Viveka is wearing her designs: a sailor inspired tunic made out of certified organic cotton in black with white collar and bell bottom pants made of dead stock fabric in burgundy. She is by a wooden fence that allows to see through it, on the other side of it we can see two trees picking on both sides of the image and slightly dry grass on the ground. LeFrak lighthouse in Jersey City is on the left of the image against a blue clear sky with a few white clouds, the lighthouse is a tubular structure with a white door on its ground floor and dark grey and white horizontal stripes all over. The left background of the image features a view of Manhattan with its mainly blue and grey skyscrapers being One World Trade Center the highest of them all.

A front view of the upper body part of Viveka in first term with her left arm over her right arm and head slightly turned to the right and in the gesture of speaking, her right arm is over a rock in sand and copper tones that fills all the left side of the picture. She is wearing her designs: a sailor inspired tunic made out of certified organic cotton in black with white collar and scarlet bandages around her neck and chest. She also wears a black bicorne hat with hand made embroideries in black, gold and red, retro inspired make up and has a shaggy haircut and gold big hoop earrings. The background just behind her towards the right is sand of a beach, further in the back there’s a big rock with grass on top of it in lively green tones and yellow vegetation. On top on this rock, towards the right of the image and against a clear, blue sky stands a lighthouse, the Tower of Hercules of A Coruna in Galicia, Spain. It’s a square tower in sand tone with a cylindrical top and a smaller and taller cylinder on the left side of the top.

Viveka is shown backwards from her calfs to head, slightly leaning towards the left side of the image in a dance like gesture with her arms extended and her right leg slightly up showing a huge snake tattoo and a calf length sock. She is wearing her designs: a sailor inspired tunic made out of certified organic cotton in black with white collar and a mini skirt that cannot be seen clearly. Her copper tone hair goes to the front of the body towards the left side of the front. In front of her we can see grass and bushes in off green tone. Towards the right side of the image and against a clear blue sky stands the Roosevelt Island lighthouse. It’s a rounded structure made out of bricks in sand tone with a more ornate top and lantern with a geometrical railing and pointy little roof. There’s a solid stone low fence in the back of it and some buildings can be seen very far away and way smaller in the distance.

A whole body Viveka stands sideways, walking and staring into the camera in the left side of the image. She is wearing her designs: a sailor inspired tunic made out of certified organic cotton in black with white collar and bell bottom pants made of dead stock fabric in burgundy. She also wears a black beret and has a shaggy haircut in her copper tones hair. She is standing over a surface of small stones in sand tone. By her, to the left there’s a tree picking in off green tone, to her right and in the background stands the Little Red Lighthouse, the only surviving and non functional lighthouse oil Manhattan. It’s a cylindrical bright red structure made out of metal with a top white railing and lantern with a pawn shaped adornment of top. Another round black railing surrounds the lower part of the lighthouse and even another railing separates the place where Viveka and the lighthouse stand from the background. The background consists on a clear white very illuminated sky and part of the Hudson river, in between of them we can see some buildings fading in the distance.
