This ultra-thin natural stone slab is comprised of 95% natural stone and a 5% fiberglass loaded backing resin. High-quality machinery and blades cut stone blocks into ultra-thin slabs.
RESOURCES
MIKOLITE slabs are made from 100% natural stone (marble, onyx, granite, travertine, limestone, terrazzo) but refined to approximately 1 mm thickness. This process preserves 90–93% of the original raw material compared to traditional 2cm/3cm slabs, significantly reducing stone extraction. At roughly 1 lb per square foot (compared to 12 lbs for traditional stone), the material maximizes resource efficiency while maintaining the same surface aesthetics as full-thickness slabs.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
By reducing stone thickness by up to 80–90%, MIKOLITE lowers raw material waste, water usage, and energy consumption during production. Its lightweight structure allows more material to be transported per shipment, reducing fuel use and transportation emissions. Faster installation and on-site fabrication also decrease packaging waste and overall construction-related environmental impact.
HUMAN HEALTH
The lighter weight (1 lb per square foot) improves job-site safety, reducing lifting strain and risk of injury compared to traditional heavy stone slabs. Because the product is 100% natural stone with enhanced resin reinforcement, it maintains durability while minimizing excessive material use.
SOCIAL EQUITY
MIKOL operates its own workshop, maintaining hands-on production and closer oversight of manufacturing practices. By reducing reliance on excessive material extraction and improving installation safety, the company supports more responsible labor practices and a more accessible, sustainable luxury market.
